On June 28, 2014, our son will marry Elizabeth Brown. God stopped me in my tracks recently by reminding me of specific prayers throughout John's childhood, prayers spoken while trying to picture a little girl we didn't know. We prayed that she would be protected and loved right then, that she would be trained well in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and that she would be gaining wisdom as she grew up and would find favor with God and man. Oh, how faithful is our Lord. I am stunned to see the answer to these prayers in one absolutely charming person. Like all mothers, I know a secret: When God gave me my children, He gave me the best He had. What I didn't know was that He was going to do it again with my daughter-in-law. Here is a glimpse of her personality, in an article published on
The King's College blog intended to recruit future students. I cannot imagine a more perfect match for our son. I never thought to pray for wit, beauty, introversion. But now that I see her, it is so clear: "This is the Lord's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes." (Psalms 118:23)
